Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs - Gro Harlem Brundtland
Kinnell & Posch acts honestly when considering environmentally responsible design. We share this commitment to sustainable development with all our suppliers and service providers.
NATURAL RESOURCES
Our furniture is made from natural, raw resources.
The teak is A-Grade and is responsibly sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified government plantations in the heart of Indonesia. The timber is kiln dried before manufacturing which means the product will not warp or bow when placed in hot or cold conditions. This treatment extends the lifetime of our teak products which equates to considerably less landfill.
Similarly, the rattan we use on our woven products is 100% natural and responsibly sourced from FSC certified government plantations.
We do not use concrete, aluminium or plastics in the design or manufacturing of our furniture.
SEATING, BACK RESTS AND COVERS
All of our seating, back rests, cushions and covers are made in New Zealand as a means of reducing CO² emissions, while ensuring the best design and quality possible.
We use Sunbrella® fabric and quick drying foam which are designed for New Zealand's varied and changeable climate, and made to last for years which again contributes considerably towards creating less landfill.
PRINTING
Our printers use responsibly sourced paper and card and vegetable based inks across all our marketing material. Vegetable based inks are 99% derived from vegetable sources such as corn, walnut, coconut, linseed, canola and soya beans.
Vegetable inks release significantly fewer VOCs into the atmosphere during the drying process, and water based products are used to clean the press after production. Also, stripping ink from paper during the paper recycling process is much easier with vegetable inks and produces less hazardous waste.
FREIGHT
In seeking to reduce our emissions, our freight company's sustainability initiatives include using a well maintained, modern and fuel efficient fleet producing less harmful CO² levels.
The design philosophy contribute to the reduction of environmental impact, and to achieve this Accor shares with its suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and service providers its sustainable development commitments.
